STRICTLY celebrated the spooky season tonight with its Halloween special, showcasing one star who was almost unrecognizable.

The makeup team truly shone in tonight’s episode, skillfully transforming the well-known personalities into frightening characters.

Among them, the head judge stood out as the most frightening.

Craig Revel-Horwood, along with the others, looked fantastic in their eerie disguises, but it was Shirley who underwent the most striking transformation as a decrepit spinster.

With wild blonde hair, plaque-covered teeth, contact lenses, and ghastly face paint, she was a far cry from her usual polished and glamorous self.

Viewers showered praise on the costumes, with one commenter on Instagram stating: “Give the hair/makeup/costume departments their FLOWERS omg!!!!!!”

Another remarked: “Fantastic costume and makeup.”

After her performance, drag star La Voix commented: “Shirley, you’ve never looked better. I understand what it’s like when you’re running late and haven’t done your makeup.”

Shirley reciprocated the compliment, praising La Voix, who was dressed as The Queen of Hearts, as “brilliant” and scoring her a nine.

In other news, the dance expert recently mentioned her mother's suggestion for a celebrity to replace outgoing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, though she refrained from revealing her own preference.

She disclosed that her mother, Audrey Rich, 88, would prefer Rylan Clark to take their place.

“If my mother had her way, it would be Rylan Clark who replaces them,” she shared at the Wimbledon BookFest.

Rylan is a popular TV and radio presenter who hosted the spin-off from 2019 to 2022.

When pressed about her own choice for a replacement, Shirley remained tight-lipped.

“Oh absolutely darling, but I couldn’t reveal,” she replied.

Shirley was a panelist at the book festival in London and acknowledged that saying goodbye to Tess and Claudia would be difficult, but she understands their decision to move on.

“I have a very good relationship with them. However, sometimes in people’s lives — and we must respect this — they are ready to move on,” Shirley stated.

“We don’t want them to leave, but they are prepared to take the next step. One day I’ll be ready to move on too, and that will be my choice when I feel it’s time.”

Shirley added: “Someone else will step in, and after a show or two, you’ll come to love the next person.”

“I will miss them tremendously. I can only wish them both well in their future endeavors, as they are going to excel.”
