The Lagos State Government has announced temporary traffic diversions in various parts of the city in preparation for the Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race, which is set to occur on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 7 am to 11 am.
According to the Lagos State Sports Commission, the 60-kilometre race will begin at Dolphin Loop, traversing Osborne Road, Ring Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Iyana Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Oshodi Oke, and the MMIA Underbridge (U-turn), before returning to Dolphin Estate for the finish line.
In a statement released on Friday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, advised motorists traveling from Ikeja to Victoria Island to utilize Ikorodu Road via Funsho Williams Avenue and connect through Eko Bridge.
“For those coming from Mowe or along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, motorists should take the Ojota Slip Road to Ikorodu Road, then continue through Funsho Williams Avenue to Eko Bridge,” Osiyemi stated.
He clarified that the Third Mainland Bridge would remain open to traffic throughout the event, although movement will be closely regulated to ensure the safety of both participants and road users.
“All adjoining roads will be opened intermittently as cyclists progress along the route,” he added.
The Commissioner assured that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, in partnership with the Nigeria Police, would be present to manage vehicular movement and uphold public order.
He emphasized that no road would be entirely closed, and vehicular access would be allowed at controlled intervals.
Osiyemi urged motorists to plan their trips in advance, use designated alternative routes, and exercise patience during the brief diversions, noting that these measures are intended to ensure a safe and seamless event for both participants and residents.
