The Ogun State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP has warned Jimi Lawal, a former aide to ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, to stop parading himself as a member of the party.
The party noted that Lawal is not their member, citing his multiple violations and anti-party activities.
The SDP Deputy State Chairman, Augustus Olushola, made this known on Monday at a press conference in Abeokuta.
Olushola disclosed that Lawal had continue to present himself as a member of the ADC coalition in Ogun State.
According to him, the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) made it clear that they remain a separate entity and there is no merger or coalition with the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
He also accused Lawal of issuing SDP membership cards illegally to his ADC members without the authority of the state organ of the party.
He said, “As you are aware, our Party National Working Committee (NWC) has made it clear that we remain a separate entity and that there is no merger or coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Despite this, it has come to our attention that Hon. Jimi Adebisi Lawal continues to present himself as a member of the ADC coalition in Ogun State.
“He has also been issuing SDP membership cards illegally to his ADC members without the authority of the state Organ of the party. This we consider as illegal possession of the party cards.
All these activities are a breach of the party’s constitution.
Olushola alleged that Lawal had not paid any membership dues and is considered an impersonator in the party
“Since he had not paid any membership due which is a prerequisite for joining the party, we consider that he is impersonating as a member of our party SDP with this, he is not qualified to or recognized to represent our party at all levels” he added.
