Ayekooto Akindele, a prominent member of Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized the lawmaker representing Virginia’s Second District in the United States Congress, Rep. Riley M. Moore, for labeling Nigeria as the most dangerous country in the world.
According to DAILY POST, the US lawmaker, who has been vocal about the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, stated in a post on X, “Nigeria is the deadliest country in the world.”
In his post, the lawmaker called on the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to advocate for Nigeria to be classified as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).
He wrote, “Nigeria is the most dangerous country in the world for Christians, and the world remains silent.”
“That’s why I’m urging @SecRubio to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern to activate diplomatic measures to protect our brothers and sisters in Christ.”
In response, Ayekooto took to his X account to dismiss the assertion, suggesting that the US lawmaker might be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The APC leader asserted that there is no ongoing genocidal attack in Nigeria as claimed by some foreign individuals.
“Nonsense! You’re speaking gibberish. Stay away from drugs, and if you’re not using drugs, don’t tweet while intoxicated.”
“However, if you neither consume drugs nor alcohol and still speak this way, then you require a group prayer, and every pastor in America should place their hands on your head; you need serious deliverance! You’re not well!”
“NIGERIA will overcome your malice,” Ayekooto stated on his X account on Friday.
