Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore on Wednesday, confronted the Minister of Works, David Umahi at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command over the alleged use of police to settle personal scores.
Sowore, who posted a video clip of the now controversial scene, alleged that a married woman identified as “TracyNither Nicolas Ohiri” was “illegally arrested in Lagos on allegations of “cyberbullying” the Minister.
According to Sowore, the woman, who has been detained at the command, accused the Minister of owing her “N250 million for jobs excuted when he was the governor of Ebonyi Stte, over 12 years ago.”
Sowore, who claimed that the case should have been treated as a civil matter, alleged that the police escalated it into a criminal spectacle by arressting the woman.
He said after the woman was ‘unlawfully’ detained, “the police facilitated a meeting in which Umahi was brought into the command to threaten, intimidate, and denigrate her inside a police facility”.
The activist, however, said when they arrived at the command, the Minister and the officers “immediately dismantled the “interview” and Umahi left, angry.
In the video, Sowore could be seen confronting the Minister, saying Umahi is “not supposed to use police”, to settle personal matters.
