Teaching assistant Angela was discovered with a “head trauma” in the street on Friday morning.
The mum-of-two lived the seaside town close to where her body was found by walkers.
Angela’s heartbroken family said: “Angela was a loved daughter, sister, mum and aunty and will be sadly missed.”
Investigating officers continue to appeal for information that may assist their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson said: “An 18-year-old male has now been charged with murder, following his arrest last week.
“I would emphasise that this remains a live murder investigation, and that we continue to appeal for information that might further assist us.
“Anyone who was in or around the Morfa area, near to the football fields, on Friday 24th October between 3am and 8.30am should contact us via 101, if they have not already done so.
“It remains imperative that we identify any persons in the area during these key times.
“As charges are now authorised in this investigation, I would also stress that nothing should be posted online that could be prejudicial to future court proceedings or undermine the criminal justice process.”
