A SOMALI man has been charged with attempted murder after a support staff worker was stabbed at a hotel reportedly used to house asylum seekers.
Abdifatah Yusuf Adani, 22, allegedly stabbed a man in his 30s at the Stanwell hotel in Surrey, near airport, at 6.30pm yesterday.
Armed officers raced to the scene and the victim was rushed to hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries.
Thankfully, he is now in a “stable condition” and Adani remains in custody, with a heavy presence remaining at the scene.
He will appear at Staines Magistrates’ on Monday morning at 10am.
MP Lincoln Jopp posted a video on today in which he said the victim of the stabbing was a staff worker.
He said he received a phone call on Saturday from the chief constable of Surrey Police informing him of the stabbing.
Mr Jopp, MP for Spelthorne, said “one of the support staff who work here was stabbed”, and that “one of the people who live here was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder”.
Police previously said they were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident, and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder said on Saturday: “We understand this incident has caused concern within the local community, and I encourage you to speak to local officers.”
A statement from the Met read: “Abdifatah Yusuf Adani, 22, has this evening been charged with one count of attempted murder following a report of a stabbing at the Stanwell Hotel in Stanwell at 6.30pm yesterday evening.
“Adani, a Somalian national, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Staines Magistrates Court tomorrow morning at 10am.
“The victim, a man in his 30s who is a staff worker at the hotel, is now in a stable condition and his injuries are no longer thought to be life threatening.
