An exchange of jerseys after the game meant that she congratulated the wrong player

She mistakenly congratulated the wrong team’s player during a live post-match interview.

Her unlucky target was Bremen skipper Marco Friedl who had just been thrashed only to be told by Kleinfeldt that “we won 4-1 today”.

The moment was pure TV gold as Friedl blinked looked down at his shirt and stifled a laugh.

Then came the awkward reply: “I am a Werder Bremen player”

A clearly rattled Kleinfeldt touched Friedl’s shoulder, apologised profusely and stumbled through a flurry of “sorrys” as the camera kept rolling.

She admitted: “I’m really just… Marco, sorry. This is my fault.”

The confussion was down to the fact that Friedl had swapped shirts after the final whistle – slipping into the jersey of former Bremen teammate Michael Zetterer, who recently moved to Frankfurt.

That was all it took to throw the Sky presenter off her game.

Kleinfeldt, who is dating Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl, 45, was quick to own up to the mistake.

She confessed: “The situation is very unpleasant and annoying.”

“I interviewed Marco before the match on the bus afterwards, I saw the Frankfurt jersey and for a moment I just… got it completely wrong.

“I hope Marco can smile about it after a few days.”

Social media exploded with reactions to the clip – some cringing, others cackling.

One user joked: “Give that woman VAR – she needs a second look.”

Another said: “Friedl handled it like a legend.”

To her credit, Kleinfeldt didn’t hide just hours later she was back on the box, cool as ever co-hosting Doppelpass on Sport1 alongside Florian Konig.
