Published on June 10, 2025 at 09:51 AM

At least six people have been confirmed dead following a deadly explosion that struck Gwabro village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Sunday.

The incident is believed to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by notorious Lakurawa gang.

This was contained in a post by security analyst, Bakatsine on his X handle on Tuesday.

He wrote, “Six confirmed dead in Gwabro village, Tangaza LGA of Sokoto after an IED believed to have been planted by Lakurawa exploded. This gang has a track record of violence in the area,”; Bakatsine wrote.

The Lakurawa group has long been accused of terrorizing villages in the area through kidnappings, extortion, and targeted attacks.

Security agencies have yet to release an official statement regarding the blast.
