GOLF legend Sir Nick Faldo is returning home following open-heart surgery in the United States.

The 68-year-old six-time major winner spent two weeks at The Cleveland Clinic, where the “successful preventative” procedure took place to repair his enlarged aorta.

A post on his official X account read: “Headed home.

“After two weeks in , Nick Faldo, and his wife, Lindsay, are on their way home following a successful, scheduled preventative open-heart surgery to repair his enlarged aorta, performed by world-renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Lars Svensson at The Cleveland Clinic.

“We are deeply grateful for Dr. Svensson and his exceptional medical team.

“Nick is now looking ahead to returning to his golf course design work and to the Masters Week in Augusta, GA, where he will be celebrating ‘Six back in ‘96.’

“Home never felt so good.”

Sir Nick won six majors including three Opens and six titles and was a hero for Team Europe at the on several occasions.

Faldo is still expected to attend the Masters in Augusta when the tournament gets underway later this year.

Since retiring, the icon has regularly appeared as a pundit on television, particularly with Sky Sports.

Until 2022 he also worked for American broadcaster CBS before stepping away from the role.

After fully recovering from his operation, Faldo is eager to continue his work in golf course design.

Fans were quick to send well-wishes to the former Ryder Cup icon, with one person writing: “Get well soon!”

Another said: “Rest up, champ!”

A third commented: “Best wishes Sir Nick,”

While a fourth wrote: “Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.”
