Footage captured the jaw-dropping scene along Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City as stunned motorists watched in disbelief.

The video shows the man, partially clad in an orange jumpsuit, with his bare torso sticking out of a busted rear window of the corrections van.
Facing oncoming traffic, he waved frantically at passing cars and even appeared to tug at the back door in a desperate bid to escape.
Witness and videographer Tiggin Martin filmed the incident as her sister Alexis drove alongside.
She told local outlet KFOR : “We thought it was a joke at first.
“It only lasted for about a minute or two until they pulled off the highway, but when we saw him, we were all like, oh my God.”
In the background of the video, posted to TikTok and later shared by NBC , a woman can be heard reacting in panic as the man writhes in the frame.
“Don’t you f****in’ do it, bro,” one warns as it looks like the inmate might leap into traffic.
“Oh, my God,” the sisters exclaim at several points — torn between horror and disbelief.
Alexis admitted she feared the man could land on her car if he jumped.
“You’re driving, you’re trying to pay attention to what you’re doing, but you’re kind of like, ‘What is this guy doing?’” she told KFOR.
The Oklahoma Department of Corrections later confirmed the van had been on a “routine transport” when the inmate smashed out the window for what officials dryly described as some “unauthorized fresh air.”#
The agency said in a statement: “Our officers immediately recognized the situation, exited the highway and called for additional law enforcement support.
“The inmate was safely secured and transported without further incident.”
The heart-stopping drama lasted only about two minutes before the van pulled to the shoulder, according to the witnesses.
The inmate’s identity has not been released, and it’s unclear if an investigation is underway.
The department added it “remains committed to transparency, accountability and ensuring the safety of all individuals in our care and all Oklahomans.”
