CORONATION Street actress Sheila Bernette has died aged 94.
The star played Sister Delaney in the ITV soap in the early 1970s, as well as appearing in the long-running BBC variety show Good Old Days between 1968 and 1983.
A statement shared by the Royal Variety Charity said: “Sheila will be very much missed by many of those who worked with her and those from the wider theatrical family.”
She was born Sheila Poncini in London on March 30 1931 into a family of Italian descent.
During her career, the actress appeared alongside the likes of Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason, as well as comedians Morecambe and Wise, Dick Emery and Leslie Crowther.
Bernette also helped pioneer TV practical joking in the UK version of Candid Camera, and appeared at the 1970 Royal Variety Performance.
In her later years, she appeared in CBBC children’s sitcom Hotel Trubble as Mrs Poshington.
