MANY of us fear that with older age comes aches, pains and wobbly bits.

But , who turned 70 today, has kept her trim figure from her days as Samantha Jones in – but says she is “not naturally thin”.

Not only that, but she proves that ageing gracefully is possible, embracing the changes rather than being fearful of them.

In the years leading up to this milestone birthday, Kim has shared the and diet tips she relies on to stay in shape.

The actress has previously said she works out every other day.

In an interview with Woman and Home , she explained that she tries to do cardio three to four times a week.

This includes running, walking and , but she notes that, “the older she gets”, she doesn’t like to run too much.

Running is a high-impact activity which puts a lot of pressure on the joints, meaning it can lead to injury.

Instead, Kim says: “I find that a long is equally as helpful and satisfying as a three-mile (4.8km) jog.”

The Sex and the City star has also said she enjoys – a low-impact form of exercise that boosts your heart rate and strengthens and tones both your upper and lower body muscles.

Swimming is notoriously easier on the joints than running, so it might be safer and more enjoyable than other more intense forms of cardio ater midlife.

What’s more, swimming provides a full-body workout – something running does not.

If injuries do strike, Kim says ‘physio yoga’ is an excellent way to repair the body.

“I’ve had injuries in the past so I also do ‘physio yoga – a combination of physio and yoga – so I’m constantly trying to rehabilitate my body,” she says.

Experts say that combining physio and yoga can result in improved mobility, strength and endurance, as well as better balance, body awareness and circulation.

Other include improved respiratory function, bone , a reduction of pain and an improved ability to self regulate, according to Shelly Prosko , a Canadian physiotherapist and yoga therapist.

Kim has previously joked she has been dieting for decades.

“I joke that I’ve been on a diet since 1974, which is basically true,” she told Woman & Home magazine in 2013.

“I take care of myself, which includes dieting, exercising and minimising stress.

“I like to eat, and my body type is not naturally this thin, especially at this age. So I do watch what I eat and drink but I’m not obsessive — it’s just a way of life.”

Looking back at Kim’s timeless look, she says that she follows the Perricone Diet to help her maintain her glow.

Dr Perricone’s 28-day anti-inflammatory diet eliminates foods that are linked to inflammation, as the name suggests.

These include breads, cereals, fried food, pasta and pizza, soft drinks and ice cream.

Instead, it advises that each meal includes lean protein, carbohydrates in the form of fruits and vegetables and essential fatty acids from olive oil or fresh, unsalted nuts.

Rachel Attard , a qualified personal trainer and nutritionist, explains that the Perricone diet “isn’t really focused on losing weight”.

“Instead, you focus on reducing your body’s inflammation. This, supposedly, helps slow down ageing.”
