The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has issued a security alert, advising students and members of the Polytechnic community to remain indoors from 9:00 p.m. each day due to potential security threats in the area.

This directive was included in an internal memorandum dated October 7, 2027, and signed by the Registrar, R. I. Adebayo, on behalf of the management.

According to the memorandum, the alert was prompted by intelligence reports indicating the presence of suspected Fulani herdsmen around Iree and its surroundings, which may pose a significant threat to the safety of residents.

“The entire Polytechnic community, especially students, is hereby advised to remain indoors after 9:00 p.m. in Iree and its vicinity,” the memo stated.

“This heightened alert and security awareness stem from intelligence gathered from the community regarding the potential presence of certain Fulani herdsmen, which may pose a security threat that could endanger your movements,” the memorandum further explained.

The management encouraged students to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary outings at night. They also urged students to promptly report any suspicious activities or perceived threats to the institution’s Chief Security Officer at the following phone numbers: 07033166585 and 07034557451 for immediate assistance.
