The Zamfara State chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has raised alarm over the activities of an alleged impostor, Bilal Aliyu, who is said to be parading himself as the state chairman.

Addressing journalists at the party’s state headquarters in Gusau on Friday, the recognized state chairman, Idris Abdullahi Bangaje, dismissed Aliyu as an outsider with no ties to the party.

“We discovered an impostor, Bilal Aliyu, parading himself as state chairman. He is not our card-carrying member, and we don’t know him at any level. We urge security agencies to arrest him,” Bangaje said.

He explained that the executives of the Zamfara SDP were duly elected through congresses held across wards, local governments, and the state level, maintaining that his leadership remains the only one recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies, and the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC.

Bangaje further stressed that he is the legitimate chairman of the party in the state until 2026 when new executives will be elected.
