THREE schools have been forced into lockdown as emergency services including helicopters attend the scene.

A police helicopter was spotted circling New Queen Street in Bristol this afternoon as a major police presence was reported in the area.

Three schools, Chester Park Infant School, in Lodge Causeway, Two Mile Hill Primary School and Bristol Brunel Academy have all closed during the incident.

Bristol Brunel Academy told parents in a statement: “We are still in a precautionary lockdown following police advice.

“Please do not worry, this is a precaution only and we are waiting to hear further instructions.

“All staff and students are safe.

“We have been advised by police to remain in lockdown due to the incident in the local community.

“Staff and students remain in the Academy and we will await further updates from police.”
