Sanwo-Olu commissions new Blue Line trains, hands over to LAMATA

Published on June 08, 2025 at 05:17 PM

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has conducted an official inspection and handover of three newly acquired Blue Line train sets to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA.

The newly delivered trains, recently imported by the State Government, mark another milestone in the state’s rail infrastructure development.

During his visit to the Blue Line terminal at Iganmu, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised President Bola Tinubu for his pivotal role in advancing the project, describing the achievement as a reflection of sustained federal-state collaboration in delivering transformational infrastructure.

The Governor expressed optimism about the impact of the new trains, noting that their deployment will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve commute times across Lagos.

He assured residents that the government is working to ensure train fares remain affordable through subsidies, stressing the administration’s commitment to accessible, efficient, and inclusive public transportation.

“The Blue Line represents a major leap forward in our drive to modernize Lagos’ transport network,”; Sanwo-Olu stated. “We are determined to keep it affordable for every Lagosian.”;
