Disney+’s upcoming series “Low Life”; has offered a glimpse into the intriguing uncle-nephew chemistry between Ryu Seung Ryong and Yang Se Jong!
Based on a webtoon, “Low Life”; is a crime drama that follows a group of down-on-their-luck country folks as they chase after a sunken treasure ship beneath the sea.
A newly released still captures Oh Gwan Seok (Ryu Seung Ryong), dressed in a suit, and Oh Hee Dong (Yang Se Jong) in a leather jacket, standing side by side at a seaside location. The two travel to Sinan, a small island in the southwest of South Korea, in search of treasure. However, their journey is fraught with both major and minor conflicts, highlighting the complex emotional dynamics between them.
Another still shows them carrying a large water tank filled with pottery out of a boat, symbolizing their desperate struggle for survival and the clash between reality and desire.
Their off-screen camaraderie also adds depth to their on-screen performance. Ryu Seung Ryong commented on Yang Se Jong’s character, saying, “He’s like a son to me. He’s a good partner to whom I can pass on practical skills for making money—skills he never had the chance to learn during tough times.”; He added, “Ultimately, it’s a journey of recognizing Hee Dong as an independent person and letting him go to live his own life.”;
He also praised Yang Se Jong as “a hardworking actor who stays immersed in his character even under the scorching sun,”; while Yang Se Yong expressed deep admiration for his senior, saying, “Ryu Seung Ryong is someone who attentively observes and guides my acting even during rehearsals.”;
The 11-episode run of “Low Life”; begins July 16 with three episodes, followed by two episodes each on July 23, July 30, August 6, and August 13.
