THREE Russian submarines were tracked by Britain for a whole month before the Navy helped scare away Vladimir Putin’s meddling sailors.

UK Defence Secretary John Healey proudly announced the UK and its allies monitored a Russian attack submarine and two spy submarines in the North Atlantic before they retreated.

The operation involved a frigate, planes and hundreds of personnel, Healey added.

Fears were first raised when British and Norwegian intelligence noticed the trio of Russian vessels nearing undersea cables and pipelines north of the UK.

Healey sent a clear message to Vladimir Putin during a press conference today, warning the tyrant: “We see your activity over our cables and our pipelines.

“You should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences.”
