RUSSIA has named the glamorous suspected assassin accused of blowing up a former Ukrainian submarine commander who defected to Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Margarita Reutt, 32, allegedly acted as a covert Ukrainian intelligence operative before planting a bomb inside a rubbish bin and remotely detonating it in Sevastopol.

The blast is said to have killed Robert Shageev, 49, a former Ukrainian submarine commander who had defected to Russia and was serving as a Russian Ministry of Defence officer.

Reutt allegedly confessed to carrying out the deadly bombing after being detained by Russia’s FSB.

The explosive device reportedly erupted at around 10am local time, ripping into the officer and leaving him severe injuries, according the the FSB.

The security service said: “As a result of the explosion, the man sustained injuries incompatible with life.

“It was established that the woman, born in 1994, carried out the bombing on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services.”

Mikhail Razvozhaev, Vladimir Putin’s governor of Sevastopol, claimed the FSB was “hot on the heels of the incident” before Reutt was detained.

He said she was suspected of carrying out a “cynical crime” against a Russian officer.

Razvozhaev added: “This is a cynical crime against an officer.

“The perpetrator – born in 1994 – is already giving evidence.

“The investigation has established that she was acting on the orders of the Ukrainian special services and shows no remorse for her actions.”

Reutt was reportedly spotted acting suspiciously in a residential district before ordinary Russians helped authorities track her down.

When interrogators allegedly asked whether she regretted the blast, she reportedly answered: “no”.

The 32-year-old was born in Yaroslavl and previously ran a travel agency which collapsed before she took a job as a biologist.

Her reported final employment was at a laboratory producing floral-infused vaginal suppositories.

She has also reportedly appeared on escort websites.

Reutt lived in the Russian resort of Sochi and allegedly told interrogators she had been “paid for the explosion in cryptocurrency”.

The extraordinary claims come after Reutt was reportedly fined in 2025 for “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces”.

Mash reported she had previously caused outrage aboard a Samara-Adler train when she allegedly shouted: “Serves you right, Russians!”, after news of a drone attack on a railway station.

She also reportedly said she was “ashamed to be Russian”.

Reutt is said to have travelled extensively around Russia and abroad, particularly to Egypt and Turkey.

After the alleged bombing, she reportedly planned to vanish overseas and had already bought a ticket from Sochi.

But her alleged escape plan was foiled when she was detained by Russian authorities and taken in for questioning.

The explosive claims come amid a growing string of alleged Ukrainian covert operations targeting senior Russian military figures deep behind the front line.

In December last year, a concealed car bomb tore through a quiet Moscow district and killed Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov, one of Vladimir Putin’s senior generals.

Sarvarov, who was responsible for training Russia’s armed forces, was killed shortly before 7am when the hidden explosive detonated beneath his vehicle in the Yasenevo district.

It was the third killing of a senior Russian military leader in 2025.

And the latest alleged hit follows another deadly blast at an elite Moscow restaurant packed with Kremlin-linked military figures.

A secret burial was reportedly held for Lt Gen Igor Yerusalimov, 53, at the high-security Troyekurovskoye Cemetery after he was killed in the restaurant bombing.

Yerusalimov was reportedly among gathering for Colonel-General Alexander Chayko.

High-ranking officers, politicians and senior bureaucrats had gathered inside the exclusive Balzi Rossi overlooking Moscow’s Kudrinskaya Square when the bomb exploded.

The device was reportedly carried into the restaurant as a “birthday gift” by a female courier.

A separate report identified one of the dead as Major-General Valeri Plokhotnyuk, a senior Russian officer who was reportedly killed in the same blast on August 1.

Despite alleged attempts by Russian authorities to suppress news of his death, Plokhotnyuk was reportedly buried covertly at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery, in an area reserved for elite military and security officials.

The bomb was reportedly believed to have been intended for Chayko, who escaped the blast unharmed.

Plokhotnyuk was said to be the godfather of Chayko’s daughter Maria, 25, who was seriously wounded in the explosion.

Together, the alleged attacks paint a chilling picture of a shadow war playing out far beyond Ukraine’s front lines, with senior Russian military figures increasingly vulnerable to devastating strikes in their own territory.
