SITALKEKI Akuaola has become the latest individual associated with Salford’s troubled ownership, which has left many awaiting payment once again.

Isiosaia ‘Sire’ Kailahi and Curtiz Brown continue their efforts, despite the club facing potential closure next Wednesday due to unpaid taxes nearing £1 million.

However, SunSport reports that wages were not paid by the scheduled deadline on Thursday, leaving many players and staff still waiting for their October salaries.

There is speculation that payments might arrive on Tuesday, just a day before the Red Devils return to the High Court to face a winding-up petition, with a growing belief that the hearing will be postponed for the fifth time.

Andrew Henderson and Kylie Leuluai appear to be establishing long-term roles as director of rugby and director of operations, respectively.

Additionally, SunSport has learned that former Salford and Warrington prop Akauola has been included in the payroll and is expected to take on a player welfare position if a much-discussed bridging loan of approximately £5 million is secured.

The 33-year-old was last seen at Featherstone, and his addition, along with other deals reportedly being proposed, reflects a growing optimism that the owners will receive financial support.

However, this situation would leave a team coached by Krisnan Inu desperately seeking a venue to play, as Salford City Council, which owns the Community Stadium, may evict them due to unpaid rent.

The Red Devils would also face a disheartened fanbase, nearly all of whom are demanding the removal of Kailahi and Brown as they begin their journey in the Championship.
