While things have been under wraps when it comes to how Kate will depart the ship, Catherine’s co-star Ross – who plays Colin – has detailed the ‘send off’ she will get.
He said: “We’re all really glad that Catherine will be back, because she’s played that role across three series and it’s important that both she and the audience get a proper send-off.”
Catherine something Ross says tipped the cast off that she would be leaving Good Ship Murder.
He continued: “We all knew last series that she was returning to Coronation Street, so there was a sense that the end of series three might have been her goodbye.
“But the way it ended, with her character and Shane very much together, series four will be about exploring what happens next and how she leaves.
“We spend twelve weeks filming in Malta, then two weeks on the ship.
“Catherine will just be joining us for a short stint this time around, but we’re all really glad to be back and it’ll be lovely to see her again.”
has played her role of Kate in the cosy crime drama since it began back in 2023.
The actress is set to fly out to Malta this spring and film the emotional final scenes.
Just a few weeks ago, a source said of her exit: “There was talk about possibly killing off her character but in the end bosses decided that she would get a happy ending.
“The writers are delighted that Cath is able to return to film her exit.”
