ROMEO debuted a new tattoo today via Instagram as a tribute to his father, famous footballer David Beckham.
The small tattoo is of a simple rose with no colour – just a black outline of the flower around an inch or two tall.
Sitting high on the young former footballer’s right jawline next to his ear, fans have been quick to spot the similarity between father and son’s choice of ink.
In October of 2015 David, 50, added to his collection of over 40 tats with a rose laying across the left side of his neck, the words ‘Pretty Lady’ underneath.
It was speculated to be a declaration of love for his wife, fashion designer and singer , 51, confirmed by the stunner herself posting snaps of the rose to her social media.
David also got a small rose tattoo on his ear in 2018 – one in nearly the exact same spot as his son’s – and a ring of roses tattooed just below his bicep on his left arm back in 2009: 10 roses linked together to commemorate 10 years of marriage after he and his wife tied the knot back in 1999.
It’s clear roses are something special and sentimental to the sports sensation, so Romeo, 22, having one etched onto his skin in a matching monochrome design can’t be a mere coincidence.
It’s something deeper, a tribute to his father during a difficult time in the Beckham house.
Things have been rocky between Romeo and model brother Brooklyn, 26, for quite some time now, with rumours of the Beckham family feud stemming all the way back to Brooklyn’s 2022 wedding to American actress and billionaire heiress, , 30, who snubbed Victoria’s offering of a gown in favor of a custom Valentino number.
But fuel has been massively added to the fire this year when rumours swirled that Brooklyn had dated Romeo’s former girlfriend, London-born DJ and model, Kim Turnball, 26, which she has strongly publicly denied.
Since then, Brooklyn and his wife of three years have noticeably kept their distance from the Beckham house, failing to acknowledge special dates and family milestones online this year, including Father’s Day, David and Victoria’s 26th wedding anniversary, and David’s recent mention in the King’s birthday honours.
Despite the digital absence and not mentioning his own family, Brooklyn posted a birthday message to his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz.
This seems to hint at where Brooklyn’s focus and loyalties lay, furthered by Instagram captions the star-studded son has scrawled under photos of him and his beau.
