Rob Edwards was born to Welsh parents on Christmas Day in 1982, in Telford, England.

The center-back began his playing career in the youth system of Aston Villa in the late 1990s, making his first-team debut in 2002.

During his two-year stint with Villa, Edwards made nine appearances.

In the summer of 2004, he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, who were in the Championship at the time.

He spent four years at Molineux before moving on to Blackpool, Norwich City, Barnsley, Fleetwood, and Shrewsbury, ultimately being forced to retire due to injury at the age of 30 in 2013.

After ending his playing career, he began coaching with the Wolves academy, where he successfully led their Under-23s to promotion.
