Rivers State: Governor Fubara's Executive Council Greenlights N1.85 Trillion Budget Proposal for 2026

The Rivers State Executive Council approved a budget proposal of ₦1.854 trillion for the fiscal year 2026 on Friday.

This budget, named the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” received approval following extensive discussions during the EXCO meeting.

The meeting, which was the first of 2026, was led by the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, along with his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and other attendees.

After the meeting, Fubara’s Special Adviser on Economic Matters and Social Development, Prof. Peter Medee, informed journalists that the council sanctioned ₦1,854,248,734,475.76 for the provision of goods and services in the state for 2026.

Medee elaborated that the proposed budget was crafted to align with the development priorities of Fubara’s administration.

He emphasized that the budget is also intended to fulfill several other critical obligations of the state.
