Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State on Saturday credited his return to office to the "special grace of God" and the "special favor" of President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu had suspended Fubara for six months due to a conflict with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the state legislators.
After the suspension period, Tinubu reinstated Fubara, who then worked to mend the strained relationships with Wike and the state's legislators.
While addressing the combined 37th and 38th convocation of Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwu in Port Harcourt on Saturday, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fully funding the institution and supporting its staff and students.
"As you mentioned, a report was presented to us. However, everyone is aware of the challenges we faced during our administration. It is solely by the special grace of God and the special favor from Mr. President that we are still here, overseeing the affairs of Rivers State," he stated.
"We will continue to meet our financial commitments to the university, ensuring enhanced infrastructure as well as the safety and well-being of staff and students."
"Education remains the most crucial investment for national development," Fubara emphasized.
