Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has suggested that Siminalayi Fubara has finally accepted that politics was never meant for him.

Odinkalu made the remark on Thursday in a post on X following Fubara’s withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary.

According to him, Fubara, who was a civil servant in 2022, ought to have resigned from service within the timeframe stipulated by the Electoral Act before contesting for office.

He added that Fubara was still serving as a civil servant long after aspirants were expected to resign under the Electoral Act, stressing that the governor was now free to return to the civil service where, according to him, his future should be bright.

Odinkalu wrote: β€œI am glad @SimFubaraKSC has finally brought clarity to issues & decided that politics is not for him. It never was.

β€œIn 2022, Fubara was a #civilservant & he was still working as civil servant long after aspirants should have resigned from office under the #ElectoralAct. He is now free to return to the #civilservice where his future should be bright.”
