As the ex- defender walked into the stadium by the pitch, he was greeted by a fan in Argentina‘s colours.
He then held his hand out while walking past as the supporter beat his chest.
Ferdinand got close to the fan, who seeing the gesture attempted to shake his hand.
However, Ferdinand then moved his hand away.
But rather than any sour grapes, the fan was left in hysterics at the prank.
Ferdinand followed suit as he pointed back at him with a beaming smile, showing there was no ill will in the prank.
The six-time Premier League winner jokingly captioned the post: “England 1-0 Argentina,” followed by a quartet of laughing emojis.
