RICKY Gervais revealed he WILL tie the knot with long-term partner Jane Fallon – to avoid an inheritance tax bill after his death.
The comedian and actor, 65, has author and television producer Jane Fallon, 65, since 1982.
They began living together in 1984, although have not married or had children.
Ricky – the star of , Extras and After Life – to name a few – is estimated to be worth £141m, according to The Times .
He was asked by Saga Magazine whether avoiding inheritance tax is a reason to marry Jane.
Inheritance Tax is charged at 40% on the property, possessions and money of someone who has died if they are worth more than £325,000.
The comedian answered: “It is. And that will be the reason I marry. We haven’t done it yet.
“But if it wasn’t for [tax]… why? It’s mad. How more married can you be?
“We share all our money, we’ve been living together for 40 years.
“Some marriages don’t last a year.”
He added: “It’s horrible isn’t it? I’ve got to get around to marrying, before I die.”
Elsewhere, Jane that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She wrote on social media at the time: “So… I thought I should post something as I’ve had a few people notice I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately.
“About a month ago I was diagnosed with – very early stage thankfully & the prognosis is excellent.
She added: “I’m getting incredible care and all will be fine but I’m not engaging with much beyond audiobooks & jigsaws tbh.”
