The Archdiocese of Kaduna has announced the death of Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Kure, a senior Catholic priest and respected clergyman in the state.
According to an official statement issued by the Office of the Chancellor and signed by Rev. Fr. Christian Okwuyem Emmanuel, Kure died at exactly 4:38 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Multiclinics, Kaduna, after a brief illness.
“I write to notify you of the death of the Rt. Rev. Msgr Emmanuel Kure, which sad event occurred at exactly 4:38am today, Wednesday, 16th July 2025 at Multiclinics, Kaduna, after a brief illness,”; the statement reads.
The announcement, addressed to priests, religious and laity in the Archdiocese of Kaduna, expressed condolences on behalf of the Church.
“The Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr Philip Gaiya, conveys his sympathies to all affected by this sad event, especially the immediate family of the Late Msgr, and the entire faithful of the Archdiocese,”; the letter stated.
The Archdiocese also indicated that further details regarding funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
“We enjoin all to continue in the solidarity of prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul,”; the statement added.
Kure was a senior priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, widely respected for his decades of pastoral service and contributions to interfaith peacebuilding in Northern Nigeria. He was known for his deep spirituality, simplicity, and pastoral zeal.
He was instrumental in supporting religious harmony and had served in various capacities, including parish priest, seminary formator, and pastoral administrator.
