The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticized President Bola Tinubu over the recent increase in killings and kidnappings in Nigeria.
In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele described the situation as disgraceful, especially considering that some government officials traveled to the United States for a meeting concerning insecurity and the threats made by Donald Trump.
The prophet emphasized that the president's duty is to ensure the safety of every Nigerian, and if he is unable to fulfill that responsibility, he should resign and allow someone more capable to take on the role.
He pointed out that the issue of genocide affects not just Christians but everyone in the country, regardless of their faith.
“You must use every resource at your disposal to safeguard the lives of Nigerians. It’s shameful that we have to report to America. Let’s be honest, genocide does not target a specific religion; it involves everyone, including Muslims. The killings are widespread, and it is truly heartbreaking.”
“Tinubu has a duty to protect every Nigerian, irrespective of their religion or ethnicity, but what we have witnessed so far indicates that the president may not be capable of doing so.”
“Unfortunately, citizens are losing faith in their president; it is a complete disgrace. If the president cannot address the issue of insecurity, he should resign and allow someone who can to take his place.”
The prophet criticized the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for consistently disregarding warnings about insecurity in the country, stating that he is contributing to the challenges faced by Tinubu’s administration. He noted that the NSA has failed to act effectively to address the security crisis.
“The NSA is often preoccupied and does not heed warnings that could safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians. He ignores sound advice, which is costing the Tinubu government dearly. The president needs to rein him in, not for political reasons, but for the sake of innocent Nigerians.”
Additionally, he urged President Tinubu to do everything possible to protect Nigerians and to heed all advice given to him.
“When insecurity prevails, chaos ensues; let the air force operate their aircraft in areas facing challenges. During elections, we see planes flying overhead; this should also happen in troubled regions. The Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Army Staff should be deployed to these areas experiencing problems.”
“The Department of State Services is performing well, and the officials are generally proactive, but they cannot manage alone. They need support from other forces to ensure their intelligence is effectively utilized.”
“It is also not a time to dismiss any prophecy, whether genuine or not. These terrorists are not supernatural beings; they can be defeated, so they must be dealt with decisively,” he concluded.
