Rangers boss Russell Martin on fans' chanting for him to go and his quick exit down the tunnel after grabbing first league win of the season against Livingston

RANGERS fans were finally given something to celebrate today as they picked up a first league win after six matches.

Russell Martin’s still under pressure and facing chants calling for his removal despite the result as they’re now in just eighth place.

And while it was Max Aarons who stunned Livingston late on, it was a rogue sprinkler that gave the visiting fans a shock!

With the section of the stands housing the Gers ultras behind the net packed to the brim, the water was suddenly turned on in their direction.

The persistent shower appeared to drench a large part of the crowd with no danger of having any impact on the playing surface.

It’s unclear whether the spraying was a freak accident or an act of trolling the away support, just as Livi did on social media this afternoon.

When the Gers posted their starting XI online, it was referred to as the team to play against opponents ‘Livingstone’.

The mistaken letter added to the end of the club’s name was pointed out by the hosts, and the original post was subsequently deleted then reposted with the correction made.

Livingston’s online team then made a jibe back, sharing what they called the ‘Rangerse’ lineup.

But with the injury time dagger for Martin’s men, it was ultimately them who had the last laugh on the day.

However as the gaffer went mad in the dugout celebrating his first three-point haul, fans burst straight into a rendition of a chant against him.

And a Gers hero on punditry duty for the fixture didn’t think it was a result that wiped the slate clean after the horror start to the season.

Kris Boyd said: “When you look at the way the game played out, first half Rangers should have been out of sight, second half they stopped doing what got them success in the first half and going in behind.

“Went back to tippy-tappy, playing it around, getting touch on the balls but really going nowhere.

“All of a sudden Livingston get a goal and get a lift. Ask questions of Rangers again.

“ ends up playing three or four positions, they’re trying to move the whole thing about.

“Russell Martin said he’s going to stick to his principles, he’s going to stick to his game plan, but as soon as they’re in that moment of need everything gets shuffled about.

“Listen, it’s a result for Rangers, it’s papering over the cracks let’s not be kidded.”
