An additional report by RMC said the pitch condition had become so bad because of a .
As first reported by ICI Armorique , talks on the pitch condition took place between high-ranking officials of both clubs and the league earlier on Wednesday.
The Ligue de Professionnel (LFP) released a statement confirming the decision to swap the venues around in the evening.
It read: “Meeting on August 19, the Competitions Committee decided that the match could not be held at the Parc des Princes.”
They continued by confirming “the pitch did not allow for the safety of the players”.
The LFP statement added: “The latter, having noted the impossibility for to organize this match in an alternative stadium, received guarantees from Stade Rennais that they could ensure the organization of the match counting for the 1st day this Sunday 23 August at 8:45 p.m.
“The Competitions Committee has therefore decided to reverse the match which will therefore be held at Roazhon Park this Sunday 23 August at 8:45 p.m.”
Rennes are said to have initially been reluctant to host the match because they did not want to overload their European Cup schedule.
But by hosting the game, it has already sparked a debate on what will happen in the reverse fixture in March 2027.
Les Rouge et Noir insist that the change of venue for this game does not equal a reversal of the host clash, but rather only a location change.
