BRIGHTON’S players have paid for the ticket of every Albion fan who has made the trip to their Conference League play-off in the Arctic Circle.

The squad have also shelled out for a T-shirt and a scarf to each of their 407 supporters attending their clash against Tromso in Northern Norway.

Captain hopes it is seen as a kind-hearted gesture towards fans who only knew for sure that their team would be travelling to Scandinavia a week ago.

The former centre-back said: “It’s a long trip for the fans, last minute to organise.

“We thought we want to start the season off well with the fans and make a gesture of refunding their tickets, as a group.

“Give them a little present tonight and hopefully they appreciate this gesture from the boys.

“Hopefully it’s a good start to have a good season with the fans and enjoy it along the way.”

Brighton are embarking on only their second-ever European campaign, having played in the Europa League under Roberto De Zerbi in the 2023-24 campaign.

They qualified for the under boss Fabian Hurzeler after finishing eighth in the Premier League last season.

Albion’s rivals Crystal Palace won this competition last season, while Chelsea and West Ham have also been crowned champions since the tournament was created five years ago.

One-club man Dunk, 34, added: “I wouldn’t say it adds pressure (that Palace won it), I’d say it gives you confidence that Premier League teams have done well.

“If we look at ourselves, we’re an established Premier League side now, we finish high up in the table a lot of the time.

“We back ourselves against anyone.

“Let’s hope it goes well, we take a good result back home and finish the job on Thursday.”
