PRIME Video announced today that We Were Liars has been renewed for a second season.
The hit mystery thriller from Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie will will return on the streaming platform – but a release date has yet to be confirmed.

In season one of We Were Liars, based on the best-selling novel by E. Lockhart, viewers follow Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her tight-knit inner circle nicknamed the “Liars”.
They go on various escapades during the summer on her grandfather’s New England private island – an island afforded by the fact that the Sinclair family are considered to be American royalty.
But after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone around her – including her “Liars” – appears to have something to hide.
Speaking on the creation of season one, Julie and Carina said: “We loved making this show with so many spectacular humans.
“The fan response was truly special.
“There are still plenty of secrets buried on Beechwood Island and we can’t wait to keep digging them up.”
According to Laura Lancaster, head of co-production and ongoing series’ at Amazon Studios, delving deeper into the thrilling world of E. Lockhart’s novels with a second season was a “no brainer”.
“Along with our talented cast, showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie did a marvelous job bringing the novels to life for our global Prime Video customers.
“We can’t wait to see what they have in store for Season Two.”
Both Julie and Carina have an impressive history of past productions on their hands.
Julie has previously worked on other shows including and .
Whereas Carina has assisted on Roswell, New Mexico, and The Originals.
Emily Cummins ( and ), and Brett Matthews (Legacies) also executive produced on season one of We Were Liars.
We Were Liars’ first season aired in June of this year.
