On the heels of this morning&#8217;s <a href="https://www.flyingeze.com/news/apple-to-add-lossless-audio-at-no-additional-cost" target="_blank">announcement</a> of Apple&#8217;s <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2021/05/apple-music-announces-spatial-audio-and-lossless-audio/" target="_blank">next-generation music service</a> featuring lossless audio and spatial audio with support for Dolby Atmos, Amazon is making a move likely aimed at retaining its own streaming music subscribers. The company says that going forward, its high-quality streaming tier, Amazon Music HD, will be made available to all eligible Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers at no extra cost.
Amazon first <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2019/09/17/amazon-launches-amazon-music-hd-with-lossless-audio-streaming/" target="_blank">announced</a> Amazon Music HD in fall 2019 with access to over 50 million songs that would stream in what Amazon is calling HD, with a bit depth of 16 bits, and a sample rate of 44.1kHz (around CD-quality). It also promised &#8220;millions&#8221; more songs that would stream in Ultra HD, or 24-bit, with a sample rate of up to 192kHz (or better than CD quality).
Today, Amazon Music&#8217;s HD catalog has grown to over 70 million songs and there are over 7 million Ultra HD tracks available. Amazon Music HD customers can also access a growing catalog of songs remixed in 3D Audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA, which can be played back on Amazon&#8217;s own high-fidelity speaker, the Echo Studio.
Music in 360RA can also be streamed via Amazon Music HD on Sony’s RA5000 and RA3000 speakers by using Alexa Cast, the company notes.
The launch of HD streaming was seen as a way to counteract the threat from the music streaming service Tidal, which had been catering to audiophiles with higher quality streams, as well as a way to differentiate its service from larger streaming rivals, like Apple and Spotify &#8212; the latter which<a href="https://www.flyingeze.com/news/spotify-to-launch-a-new-high-end-subscription-spotify-hifi" target="_blank"> recently announced a high-end subscription of its own</a>, Spotify HiFi, whose pricing and launch date is yet unknown.
Before today, Amazon Music HD was priced at $12.99 per month for Amazon Prime subscribers and $14.99 per month for anyone else. Now, Amazon says that new and existing subscribers to the Amazon Music Unlimited Individual Plan ($7.99/month for Prime members and $9.99/month otherwise) or the Family Plan ($14.99/month) can upgrade to Amazon Music HD at no additional cost &#8212; essentially a $5 per month savings.
The changes will kick in at the next billing cycle, and are supported in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Canada, France, Italy, and Spain.
&#8220;When we first launched Amazon Music HD, our goal was to lead the industry by enabling music fans around the world to stream the best quality recording, the way artists intended their music to be heard,&#8221; said Steve Boom, VP of Amazon Music, in a statement about today&#8217;s news. &#8220;We’re thrilled now to make Amazon Music HD available to everyone at no extra cost. All music fans should have access to this quality of music, and now they do,&#8221; he added.
The move by Amazon to make its HD catalog a free upgrade follows this morning&#8217;s announcement from Apple that <a href="https://www.flyingeze.com/news/apple-to-add-lossless-audio-at-no-additional-cost" target="_blank">it will add lossless audio to Apple Music at no additional cost,</a> starting next month. The upgrade will also bring spatial audio with support for Dolby Atmos. Given the shift in the market, the pressure is on Spotify to make its HiFi music service competitively priced, as well.

<h2>Is The Wheel of Time on Netflix?</h2>
No, The Wheel of Time is not available to stream on <a href="https://www.netflix.com/browse">Netflix</a>.
There are some great fantasy series available to stream, including Cursed, <a href="https://netflixlife.com/netflix-original/shadow-and-bone/">Shadow and Bone</a>, <a href="https://netflixlife.com/netflix-original/the-witcher/">The Witcher</a>, and<a href="https://netflixlife.com/netflix-original/the-last-kingdom-netflix/"> The Last Kingdom</a> (although it&#8217;s less fantasy and more historical fiction).
<h2>Where to watch The Wheel of Time</h2>
You will be able to watch The Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime Video&#8230; when it&#8217;s released.
It sounds like The Wheel of Time is expected to be released on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. Unfortunately, production on the series was delayed because of the pandemic.
It&#8217;s unclear if filming has wrapped, but according to <a href="https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/wheel-of-time-release-date-trailer-cast-amazon">Inverse</a>, most of the first season was complete when production was shut down. So, it&#8217;s not like they have the majority of the season to film or anything like that. It&#8217;s simply finishing the season and then getting it all put together and released.
Hopefully, that&#8217;s sooner rather than later! Things could be delayed until 2022 depending on how long that whole process takes.

When it comes to <a href="https://netflixlife.com/2021/04/02/best-netflix-movies/" target="_blank">sports movies</a>, there are few from the modern era that resonated with football fans quite like 2014&#8217;s&nbsp;Draft Day.&nbsp;
Starring Chadwick Boseman, Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner,&nbsp;Terry Crews and Denis Leary,&nbsp;Draft Day&nbsp;is rooted within the world of the NFL centering around <a href="https://dawgpounddaily.com/" target="_blank">Cleveland Browns</a>&nbsp;general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) whose NFL Draft day decision presents him with the opportunity to save the&nbsp;fledgling Browns team.

Is Draft Day on Netflix?
Netflix is home to many incredible sports films but, unfortunately,&nbsp;Draft Day&nbsp;is not one of them. While fans can watch countless sports series including&nbsp;All American, Last Chance U&nbsp;and&nbsp;The Last Dance,&nbsp;Draft Day&nbsp;starring Kevin Costner and Chadwick Boseman is not available to stream on Netflix.
<h2>Where to stream Draft Day starring Chadwick Boseman</h2>
Surprisingly,&nbsp;Draft Day&nbsp;is not currently streaming on any streaming service, without an additional cause, that is. While Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and Paramount Plus are home to several fan-favorite features, the 2014 film is not currently streaming as part of any of these service&#8217;s plans.

The adult animated superhero series Invincible has an impressive <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/invincible/s01" target="_blank">Rotten Tomatoes</a> rating so far, and many people&nbsp;out there are eager to watch the well-crafted affair, wondering if the series based on the comic book character created by <a href="https://deadline.com/2018/06/amazon-invincible-superhero-animated-series-the-walking-dead-robert-kirkman-1202413387/" target="_blank">Robert Kirkman</a> will ever touch down on <a href="https://netflixlife.com/2021/04/03/netflix-shows-watch-like-game-of-thrones/" target="_blank">Netflix</a>.
Mature-themed superhero content is all the rage these days, and there is no shortage of titles out there that fall under that banner that fans can&#8217;t get enough of from start to finish. The Boys, Joker, Misfits, <a href="https://netflixlife.com/2021/02/15/will-zack-snyders-justice-league-netflix/" target="_blank">Zack Snyder&#8217;s Justice League</a>, Watchmen, Harley Quinn, and of course the series in question,&nbsp;Invincible, make the list as top-tier must-watch endeavors.
Invincible follows teenager Marc Grayson who, on his 17th birthday, starts to gain superpowers and begins to learn how to be a hero from his father Nolan, who is the most powerful superhero in the world. The series features an all-star cast who all give stellar performances led by <a href="https://netflixlife.com/2021/03/01/is-minari-on-netflix/" target="_blank">Minari&#8217;s</a> Steven Yeun, Killing Eve&#8217;s Sandra Oh, and <a href="https://netflixlife.com/2021/02/24/will-spider-man-no-way-home-netflix/" target="_blank">Spider-Man: No Way Home&#8217;s</a> J.K. Simmons.
The action thriller first aired on March 26, 2021, and has received significant praise for its bold animation, charming cast, and bloody action. Netflix subscribers are used to content of this caliber arriving on the streaming service almost all the time, so it&#8217;s no wonder why many people are wondering if Invincible will ever become a welcome addition to an already stacked library.
<h2>When will Invincible be on Netflix?</h2>
The verdict as to whether or not the animated superhero series will be on the streaming service isn&#8217;t going to be considered great news. It seems very unlikely that Invincible will be coming to Netflix, at least anytime in the foreseeable future. Right now, the show is exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video, and is still only airing its first season.
But luckily for subscribers, Netflix has stacked its library full of superhero content that will definitely provide a similar experience to Invincible. Well-received titles like <a href="https://netflixlife.com/netflix-original/the-umbrella-academy/" target="_blank">The Umbrella Academy</a>, The Punisher, Raising Dion, Daredevil, and many more are readily available to stream on Netflix.

When is Invincible coming to Netflix?

For small and mid-sized restaurants in Nigeria and most of Africa, food procurement can be a complex process to manage. The system is such that a business can easily run out of money or have considerable savings. Most restaurants don&#8217;t have access to deal directly with farms to get better deals because they lack the staffing to chase them. Besides, they also don&#8217;t have the aggregation pull as single entities to directly get good value from the farms.
Nigerian startup <a href="http://vendease.com">Vendease</a> solves this problem by building a marketplace that allows restaurants to buy directly from farms and food manufacturers.
The company was founded by<a href="https://ng.linkedin.com/in/gatumialiyu"> Gatumi Aliyu</a>, <a href="https://ng.linkedin.com/in/olumide-fayankin-3a450339">Olumide Fayankin</a>, <a href="https://ng.linkedin.com/in/tunde-kara-a0345121">Tunde Kara</a> and <a href="https://ng.linkedin.com/in/waleoyepeju">Wale Oyepeju</a>. The idea for Vendease came when founders who have been friends for more than five years noticed their favorite restaurants in cities like Lagos and Accra shutting down. Inquisitive, they asked the owners who were acquaintances why, and the problems boiled down to the unreliable and expensive nature of food procurement in the cities.
Some months later they saw a hotel manager openly complain to a vendor about the unsteady supply of produce the hotel was getting. It sparked an idea in the founders&#8217; minds.
The established processes involved staff or a contract employee going to the market or using third-party vendors. The founders saw that these processes were often unreliable from the two unrelated events, and restaurants lost a lot of money from price inflation and bad produce.
&#8220;We thought to ourselves that if restaurant owners and hotel managers have these problems, let us actually do some research and find out if it is a problem we can solve, scale and make money while doing it,&#8221; Kara said to TechCrunch.
At the time, Kara, the CEO, and Fayankin, the COO, held the respective positions at a Pan-African media consulting company called RED Media. Aliyu, the chief product officer (CPO), also held a similar role at another Lagos and San Francisco-based, YC-backed startup, 54gene. Oyepeju, the CTO, was working on a couple of technology projects for corporates.
Before Vendease, they had founded an adtech startup for ride-hailing companies, which didn&#8217;t survive for long. So this was another shot at another entrepreneurial journey, and after two and half months of iteration, the founders decided to launch the company in January 2020. They also closed an undisclosed pre-seed round to kickstart operations. 
On its website, it is described as &#8220;a procurement platform that provides a transparent process for hotels and restaurants to get the best quality products at the best possible price.&#8221; But Kara has a more fanciful description: The Amazon Prime for restaurants in Africa.
Customers can order anything ranging from bread to grains and meat to vegetables on the website. The order notification goes to the farms or food manufacturers, gets processed, and delivery is done within 24 hours. 
&#8220;Why we call ourselves that is because we are deliberate about fulfilling our orders to restaurants and hotels in less than 24 hours. As most of us know, this is similar to how Amazon Prime prioritizes delivery,&#8221; he commented.
The speed and timely manner in which Vendease carries out its operations are such that it currently completes 80% of on-time and one-time deliveries across all orders.

To further highlight how effective the company has been thus far, Kara claims that a good number of the 100 businesses using Vendease went from procuring only one type of produce to 80% of their catalog in two months.
As much as Vendease helps restaurants a lot, it also looks out for the vendors and farmers involved in the supply chain. Typically it takes two to three months for these set of customers to get the payments and this happens because restaurants and hotels take too long to balance their books before making payments. In effect, farmers and vendors mark up their prices to mitigate losses, making products more expensive for restaurants and hotels. 
While growing up, Kara and Fayankin were on both sides of the vicious cycle. Growing up on a farm and helping his parents with livestock and crop care, Kara knows what it means to be owed for a long time.
&#8220;Those experiences help fuel what I do right now. Then, we had a problem selling our products and most times we ended up consuming them because we didn&#8217;t have enough off-takers. Even when you did, they&#8217;ll owe for six months. And this problem still exists to date.&#8221;
On the other side of the marketplace is Olumide, who grew up in a hotel and restaurant business. He runs and handles procurement activities and his experience is vital to how Vendease handles issues around unreliable and expensive supply of food produce. But now they are helping these customers reduce the waiting time to days.
Although they would&#8217;ve wanted to solve these problems earlier, their careers strayed toward media and energy. However, it has brought them back, and they&#8217;re solving additional problems they didn&#8217;t recognise in the past. They soon figured that customers couldn&#8217;t track most of their orders and be certain of what they got alongside the supply and cost issues. 
Vendease has built all that to help these businesses digitize, track and automate their procurement and inventory management processes. It also helps with logistics, warehousing, quality control and financing where restaurants can buy goods and pay later.
In the next five years, the one-year-old company wants to be the operating system for food supplies in Africa. Kara talks of plans to expand to other African cities in the coming months but is tight-lipped on the names. As Demo Day approaches, the team will be looking to raise some money and follows Egypt&#8217;s Breadfast as the only restaurant-focused companies from Africa (although they have very different business models) that the accelerator has funded.

One of them &#8212; Norway&#8217;s Consumer Council (NCC) &#8212; has also published a <a href="https://fil.forbrukerradet.no/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/2021-01-14-you-can-log-out-but-you-can-never-leave-final.pdf">report</a> calling out what it describes as the ecommerce giant&#8217;s &#8220;manipulative&#8221; and &#8220;unreasonably cumbersome&#8221; unsubscribe process for Prime. The report has been punningly titled &#8216;<a href="https://fil.forbrukerradet.no/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/2021-01-14-you-can-log-out-but-you-can-never-leave-final.pdf">You can log out, but you can never leave</a>&#8216;.
&#8220;It should be as easy to end a subscription as it was to subscribe in the first place. Amazon should facilitate a good user experience instead of hindering customers and tricking them into continuing paid services they do not need or want,&#8221; said NCC director of digital policy, Finn Lützow-Holm Myrstad, in a statement.
&#8220;In our view, this practice not only betrays the expectations and trust of consumers but breaches European law,&#8221; he added.
The Prime subscription is a key tool in Amazon&#8217;s arsenal, generating reliably recurring revenue while simultaneously encouraging users to lock themselves in to making additional purchases via the carrot of unlimited &#8216;free&#8217; fast shipping (which applies to a subset of qualifying items on the marketplace). 
Other perks Amazon throws in to juice Prime membership include streaming movies, TV shows, music and games, plus exclusive shopping programs and discounts (though the exact bundle varies by market).  
However a lock-in vibe also applies when trying to end a Prime subscription, per the complaints, because Amazon requires users to successfully navigate multiple menus, select from confusingly worded multiple-choice options and scroll past various distracting and/or irrelevant interstitials and dead space in order to locate the button that actually ends their subscription.  
And, don&#8217;t forget, this is the same company that famously patented a &#8216;1-click&#8217; button for consumers&#8217; cash to pour into its coffers&#8230;
The NCC has made the below video illustrating the various dark patterns Amazon deploys to try to nudge Prime subscribers away from unsubscribing &#8212; including a cartoon of a dog barking because, uh, we have no idea tbh&#8230;

Complaints against Amazon&#8217;s click-heavy process for Prime unsubscribing are being filed by consumer groups in Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Switzerland and Norway and the US &#8212; so a variety of national and regional consumer protection laws are involved.
The NCC&#8217;s <a href="https://fil.forbrukerradet.no/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/complaint-against-amazon-prime.pdf">complaint</a>, for example, makes reference to Norway&#8217;s Marketing Control Act &#8212; which implements the EU&#8217;s Unfair Commercial Practices Directive &#8212; providing a framework for &#8220;what marketing, commercial practices and terms of service the service providers are allowed to use in different markets&#8221;, as it explains in the complaint.
&#8220;The Marketing Control Act section 6 implements the general clause in Article 5 of the Directive which states that an unfair commercial practice is banned. What constitutes an unfair commercial practice is defined in the second paragraph of section 6, which states that a commercial practice is unfair if it breaches &#8216;good business practices&#8217; toward consumers, and is able to significantly alter a consumer’s financial conduct, so that the consumer makes a decision that they would not otherwise have made,&#8221; the NCC argues.
Some of the coordinated complaints will be less formal, taking the form of letters written to consumer protection agencies urging them to investigate. In the US, for example, the FTC will be urged to &#8220;investigate Amazon’s practices and analyze whether they violate Section 5 of the FTC Act&#8221;.
While in Germany the VZBV consumer protection agency told us it&#8217;s currently assessing Amazon&#8217;s cancellation process for Prime &#8212; which it noted &#8220;looks a bit different&#8221; to the one in the Norwegian complaints &#8212; saying it&#8217;s not yet clear whether or not it will file a court injunction over the issue.
&#8220;Unlike the other consumer organisations taking part in this concerted action, we’re not sending complaints to authorities,&#8221; the VZBV spokesperson added. &#8220;My employer, the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (vzbv) is able to send legal warnings and, if demands to cease and desist are not being met, sue companies infringing consumer protection laws in its own capacity. We will do so if there is enough legal merit to this case. But as I said, it is not completely decided yet.&#8221;
We contacted Amazon for comment on the complaints against the Prime unsubscribe process and it denied making it unclear and difficult for members to cancel their subscription, arguing that it only takes &#8220;a few clicks&#8221; online or &#8220;a quick phone call&#8221;.

The information we provide in the online cancellation flow gives a full view of the benefits and services members are cancelling.</blockquote>
Consumer groups banding together to apply pressure on tech giants to change dubious practices is not a new phenomenon. Back in <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2018/11/27/google-faces-gdpr-complaint-over-deceptive-location-tracking/">2018</a>, for example, a number of European groups coordinated complaints against Google&#8217;s &#8216;deceptive&#8217; harvesting of location data. We’re halfway through September, which means we’re halfway through the monthly film offerings given to us by streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO Max and Disney+. 
And while this month has been pretty light for movies compared to recent months, this weekend brings us a bevy of films—15 movies, to be exact. And that includes some pretty big projects starring some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. This week’s line-up is quite the eclectic mix as well, so there should be something new and exciting for everyone to watch.
So here they are: every new movie coming to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO Max and Disney+ this weekend.
<h2>La Musiquita por Dentro (HBO Max)</h2>
Plot summary: A shy guy falls for a pretty co-worker and he gets tips from a friend on how to win her over.
La Musiquita por Dentro stars Christian Alvarez, María del Mar Bonelly and Lápiz Conciente. The movie was directed by Ernesto Alemany.

Every New Movie Coming To Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO And Disney+ This Weekend

Subscription services are on the rise. During the pandemic, Americans have been spending more time at home and more money on the digital products that make navigating our new normal easier.
More than ever, Americans’ lives are aided by companies like <a class="crunchbase-link" href="https://crunchbase.com/organization/netflix" target="_blank" data-type="organization" data-entity="netflix">Netflix, </a> Instacart and, of course, <a class="crunchbase-link" href="https://crunchbase.com/organization/amazon" target="_blank" data-type="organization" data-entity="amazon">Amazon, </a> which reported <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/15/business/amazon-prime-day-messaging-change/index.html">record-setting earnings</a> from its 2020 Prime Day savings event.
A recent survey even found that spending on subscription services had <a href="https://www.comparecards.com/blog/subscription-service-spending-triples-amid-social-distancing/">more than tripled</a> since March, with one in three respondents saying they’d purchased a new online subscription while quarantining.
Now, a new concern lingers: Is the market getting oversaturated? The question doesn’t just apply to streaming services and food delivery companies — it’s an issue financial technology businesses can’t afford to ignore.
As subscriptions become an increasingly alluring business model, fintechs will be forced to consider whether this proven strategy is worth the risk.
<h2>Fintechs should take note of subscription services</h2>
In the CompareCards survey, two-thirds of respondents said they purchased a new streaming service mainly for entertainment. Still, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for fintechs to carve out their own space.
Bradley Leimer, co-founder of the financial consulting firm Unconventional Ventures, said he’s certainly seen more fintechs exploring subscription models. As Leimer explained, the financial services industry may have not fully embraced the idea, but it’s “starting to take notice.” Leimer, who has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, believes fintechs can learn a lot from subscription services — provided they’re willing to look in the right place.
One major lesson? Transparency. Subscription services give companies an opportunity to be upfront about their fees, as well as their benefits.
“When we talk about subscriptions, the more clear and more transparent we are, the better,” Leimer said.
Acorns is an easy case study. The microinvesting app offers three subscription levels — lite, personal and family — each with a clearly explained list of features. For what it&#8217;s worth, the company added <a href="https://www.forbes.com/companies/acorns/#675b75af3529">more than 2 million users</a> between March 2019 and March 2020, according to Forbes.
Leimer said fintechs should also take note of the way subscription services collaborate. For example, he pointed out how Amazon users can add an <a class="crunchbase-link" href="https://crunchbase.com/organization/hbo" target="_blank" data-type="organization" data-entity="hbo">HBO </a> subscription to their Prime Video account, essentially “bundling” two subscriptions into one. Fintechs, Leimer said, could stand to take a page out of that playbook.
“There are a lot of ways to sort of skin that cat — for a fintech company to generate income and for a customer to get value on top of that,” Leimer said.

As subscriptions become an increasingly alluring business model, fintechs will be forced to consider whether or not this proven strategy is worth the risk.
