President Federation Cup: NPFL Chairman, Elegbeleye hails Abakaliki FC

Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, has lauded Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Abakaliki FC, for their historic feat in the President Federation Cup.

Abakaliki FC defeated Ikorodu City 5-4 on penalties in the semi-final of the competition at the Bwari Stadium in Abuja on Wednesday.

DAILY POST recalls that Abakaliki FC that Abakaliki FC eliminated Enyimba, Rivers United and Nasarawa United on their road to the final of the competition.

Elegbeleye expressed his admiration for the Ebonyi-based club.

“What we’ve witnessed is the beauty of the Federation Cup,”;; Elegbeleye told NNL media.

“Abakaliki FC played with heart, and their composure during the shootout was commendable.

“This also affirms that the NNL is not just a feeder league but the heartbeat of Nigerian football development.”;;

Abakaliki FC will lock horns with Kwara United in the final of the competition.
