The Nigeria National League (NNL) chairman, George Aluo has congratulated Abakiliki FC for reaching the last four in the 2025 President Federation Cup.
Abakaliki FC defeated Nasarawa United 5-4 on penalties to advance to the semi-final of the competition.
Abakiliki FC will square up against Ikorodu City next in the competition.
Aluo said that the performance displayed by the team in the competition showed the quality of the second tier league.
“I have to commend new comers Abakiliki FC for their good performance in the ongoing President Federation Cup. They’ve really made us proud,”; Aluo told Newstap.
“Their victory over Enyimba FC in the Round of 16 and Nasarawa United in the quarter- finals showed the quality of the NNL and we’ll continue to raise the bar towards ensuring that we give Nigerians a league they’ll be proud of.
“Just last season, Ikorodu City was in the NNL alongside reigning Federation Cup champions El-Kanemi Warriors. This shows the quality of NNL teams and the league.”;
