Premier League to be stopped for 4 England games in a row next season as international breaks get controversial revamp

THE PREMIER LEAGUE is set for a very unusual campaign next season due to the international break’s controversial new setup.

The has been scheduled to stop five times this term for the usual total of 10 international matches per calendar year.

Two matches are taking place in each international break this season, as customary.

But announced that next season things will be slightly different than what Premier Leaguer fans are used to.

Fifa released the following statement: “After consultation with the relevant stakeholders, FIFA publishes the International Match Calendar (IMC) for the period of four or eight years.

“FIFA’s objective in this process is to make a calendar that is “fit-for-purpose” for modern needs, contributing for the improvement of the quality of players, clubs and national teams and giving both incentive and opportunity for the detection and development of talent outside a small number of countries.”

Next term there will only be four international breaks, one of which will be much bigger than what fans are used to.

One of those breaks will be consisted of a staggering four matches.

The other three pauses will be consisted of the usual two matches – meaning there will be a grand total of 10 games as usual.

That means England will find themselves very busy after the .

The Three Lions need to win only one more match to officially qualify for this summer’s competition in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Thomas Tuchel’s men away on Tuesday with a score of 5-0.

That means that a victory in Latvia on October 14 will seal ‘s place in the tournament.
