DARTS’ Premier League concludes on Thursday with the final four heading to the 02 and Finals Night.

Premier League Darts Finals Night preview

And then there were four.

After 16 weeks of ups and downs touring the length of the UK and abroad into Europe, England’s Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are joined by the Welsh pair of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton in the Premier League final night.

Long-term league leader Clayton all-but secured his status here with a stunning opening few weeks of the campaign.

Ultimately, it was Littler who had the staying power to pip The Ferret to top the league phase with 43 points and SIX nightly win of the 16 played.

That’s even more impressive when you consider the world champion took until week five to finally get off the mark in the competition.

Humphries (27pts) and Price’s (26pts) final night participation was confirmed a bit later in the schedule after just one and two weekly wins, respectively.

That left a bit of a dead rubber last week ahead of the trip to the 02, with Humphries the defending champ and Price opting to withdraw from UK pool duties to focus on this evening.

And why wouldn’t he, given there is a seismic £350,000 on the line for the winner!

There’s a change in the regular Premier League format for the play-offs.

With just three matches to be played, they’ll be extended from the usual best-of-11 legs.

Instead, the matches are contested as a best-of-19 legs.

Premier League darts finals night predictions

Tough to predict

Where do you even start with this?

Luke Littler being a 10/11 shot is probably about right but from a punting perspective, it’s hardly an inspiring price.

While plenty of people are bursting for a change to the format, the remainder could well be swayed if we’re left with Littler vs Humphries for the third successive year.

But I’m not sure you can discount the Welsh boys on what we’ve seen recently, with Price abandoning his pool ambitions and Clayton being Mr Consistent for much of this event this year.

As defending champ, you can’t rule Humphries out and his scoring power on big nights has largely been unplayable. But Clayton could keep pace early doors and pile the pressure on Humphries, who lost Night 13 and 14 finals in a decider against Littler before losing in Night 16s to Stephen Bunting.

Clayton may well have run out of steam towards the end of this campaign but I reckon securing his spot in finals night nice and early is probably the reason for foot off the gas and he’s beaten Humphries in four of their last six meetings.

Meanwhile, the checkouts these four can produce can be outrageous and you’ve got to expect more of the same.
