"Ex-Premier League Star, 38, Embarks on New Career After Bankruptcy"

EX-LIVERPOOL and Newcastle midfielder Danny Guthrie is the new technical director of a football academy in the UAE.
The 38-year-old’s new job comes three years after , having failed to repay £100,000 he borrowed from a friend.

Guthrie played over 100 games for Newcastle
Businessman Chris Heath loaned Guthrie the cash to help him buy a house.
But he was never repaid – even after the house was sold.
Heath said he felt “very let down” and “had no choice but to make him bankrupt”.
Guthrie accepted a six-year bankruptcy order which will run until May 2028.
The former midfielder had the world at his feet when he was an up-and-comer at , having previously spent time in ‘s academy.
And he set back £2.5million when they managed to lure him from Anfield in 2008.
The latter years of Guthrie’s career were a lot less lucrative.
Spells in Indonesia and Iceland preceded his retirement, and the bankruptcy order that followed.
Guthrie has taken on a number of roles since hanging up his boots.
His latest venture has seen him start work as technical director at Al Hadha Football Academy in the UAE.
He said: “I’m delighted to have joined Al Hadha to share my experience and my knowledge with the next generation.
“I feel that is my duty and I can’t wait to get started. The academy has huge ambitions and I’m really, really proud to be a part of it.”
Guthrie’s address was listed in Dubai when he was declared bankrupt.
Earlier this year he was unveiled as a coach at IFG Phoenix City – a club in the UAE’s football pyramid which integrates sport and education.
Guthrie has also been providing private coaching through his own initiative, The Overachievers’ Club.
Guthrie spent time in the EFL before retiring
