Pre-season: I am happy with him – Mikel Arteta on Havertz’s lack of goal vs AC Milan

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has commented on Arsenal star Kai Havertz’s performance following a 1-0 win over AC Milan in a preseason game on Wednesday night.

The manager welcomed the German back to the Arsenal squad with the forward having been out of action since the second half of the 2024-25 season due to injury.

Arteta said he was happy with Havertz’ performance, adding that the Germany International is in a very good place.

Fielding questions from the press after the game, the Spaniard said, “I think the game he had he was in three of four times completely free and the ball didn’t arrive to him,” explaining why the former Chelsea star did not score a goal.

He said that Havertz’s work rate was good enough, recalling that the forward netted against Watford in a previous game.

“Overall very happy with him,” he said.

The Gunner will now play Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Villarreal next before taking on Athletic Bilbao in the Emirates Cup.

Mikel Arteta is preparing his team for their first Premier League game of the season against Manchester United on August 17.
