PARENTS at an exclusive pre-school were kept in the dark after a teacher was arrested for alleged sexual assault of a child.
Many learned a man in his 30s had been held and quizzed only after revealed it last week.
The nursery — popular with wealthy parents including diplomats and ambassadors — wrote to them weeks after his early December arrest just to tell them an “individual allegation has been raised”.
The letter was sent at the same time wrote to tell parents that the closed pre-school’s registration had been suspended.
The watchdog said: “We reasonably believe the continued provision of childcare may expose children to a risk of harm.”
But neither the nursery, where fees can be £9,000 per term, nor Ofsted revealed the arrest had been made.
The pre-school later offered parents places at another West London nursery, saying: “We acknowledge how concerning this may feel for you.”
It finally told parents about the sexual assault claim last Saturday night after The Sun on Sunday’s story was published online.
A source said: “Parents are disgusted by this and most of them are grateful to the Sun.”
The Met said: “A person in their 30s remains on bail. Inquiries continue.”
