The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North), has stated that bandits are mercenaries introduced into Nigeria by politicians.
Uzor Kalu made this assertion during an interview on Sunday Politics, a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST.
His remarks come in light of the ongoing security issues facing the nation.
He remarked, “People are being killed in Nigeria while discussions about the upcoming 2027 elections continue. It is evident that everything revolves around politics.
“These individuals (bandits) are essentially mercenaries brought in by politicians. They are individuals sent to undermine the president who is committed to revitalizing our economy.”
When asked whether President Bola Tinubu was aware of the information he was sharing, the former governor of Abia State responded, “Tinubu is the president of Nigeria. He possesses a wealth of information around him.
