Abia State Police Command says it is aware of the alarm raised online by a woman, Mrs. Chioma Chikadibia, alleging the unlawful detention of her husband, Mr Sunday Chikadibia and their three daughters by the Command.

In a clarification issued by its spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, Abia State Police Command said that the individuals in question were arrested as suspects and accessories to an investigation of alleged kidnapping and murder case.

According to the Abia State Police Command, “upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects were duly arraigned in Court and are presently remanded at the Correctional Centre by the order of a competent court of jurisdiction.”;

The Abia Police Command described the alarm raised by the wife, Mrs Chioma Chikadibia about her husband and their three daughters’ whereabouts as untrue and misleading.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, advises members of the public to desist from shielding criminal suspects, as doing so makes them accomplices to crime, an act which constitutes a criminal offence under Nigerian law”;, the statement said in part.
