Police probe vandalism of Tinubu 2027 campaign billboard in Kano

Published on June 21, 2025 at 10:22 AM

The Kano State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the vandalism of a campaign billboard bearing the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development follows the circulation of a viral video showing a group of youths dismantling the billboard in Kano. The footage has sparked public concern and drawn swift condemnation from authorities.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Hussaini Abdullahi, the act was described as criminal and a threat to public peace. He said the command had launched a full investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.

“The destruction of any public or private property is a serious offence, and those found guilty will be prosecuted in accordance with the law,”; the statement read.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged residents to remain calm and refrain from acts capable of breaching public order. He also reiterated the command’s resolve to ensure law and order is maintained across the state.

The police have warned that future acts of vandalism will not be tolerated and will attract severe legal consequences.
