Delta Officer Fires at Moving Vehicle in Dramatic Encounter

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended an officer who was captured on video shooting at the tire of a moving vehicle in front of Toscana Hotel along Okpanam Road, Asaba.

According to DAILY POST, the incident occurred on Tuesday night and sparked outrage after the video was shared on social media.

The footage depicted the officer firing at the car as it attempted to flee.

This action has been widely criticized as reckless and a breach of the established rules of engagement regarding firearm use in public areas.

In response to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, characterized the officer's actions as embarrassing, shameful, careless, unprofessional, and unjustified in a post on X on Wednesday.

Edafe stated, “Honestly, this is embarrassing, shameful, careless, extremely unprofessional, and completely unjustified. The officer has been identified, detained, and will be presented before the Commissioner of Police today.”

As of the time of this report, no injuries have been reported.
