The Nigeria Police Force has expressed its worry regarding the increasing disconnect and lack of understanding between police officers and lawyers in the enforcement of court orders related to criminal suspects.

The Head of the Legal Department at Zone 1 Headquarters in Kano, Barrister CSP Nura Sa’idu, shared this information during a stakeholders’ meeting organized by Partners West Africa Nigeria in partnership with the Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative. The meeting aimed to enhance collaboration and foster harmony between the police and the legal community.

CSP Nura pointed out that, “the lack of synergy and mutual understanding between police officers and lawyers frequently leads to delays in executing court orders, which can hinder the administration of justice and jeopardize public peace.”

He stressed the importance of clearly defining the roles and limits of each party to prevent interference, conflict, and procedural failures that could compromise the justice system.
