The Jigawa State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, and issued to DAILY POST on Thursday.

The Command said adequate personnel and operational assets would be strategically deployed to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.

According to the statement, pre-Sallah activities include intensified confidence-building patrols, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations across all 27 local government areas of the state.

The police noted that special attention is being given to Eid prayer grounds, markets, recreational centres, parks, and other public places.

The Command added that area commanders and divisional police officers have been directed to boost visibility policing and engage community stakeholders to proactively prevent crime.

During the Sallah celebrations, the police said a strong security presence would be maintained at designated Eid prayer grounds and social gathering venues.

Tactical units, including the Mobile Police Force and Rapid Response Team, are expected to complement conventional policing efforts.

The statement further disclosed that traffic control measures would be enforced to ease movement and reduce congestion, while patrol teams would be positioned to respond swiftly to emergencies.

The Command also noted that it would sustain heightened patrols and surveillance to prevent any form of criminal activity. Officers have also been placed on high alert to ensure the safe movement of residents returning to their destinations.

The Commissioner of Police in the state reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information.

He advised parents and guardians to caution their children against reckless behaviour, while motorists were urged to comply with traffic regulations to avoid accidents.

The Command also appreciated the continued support of residents and extended its goodwill message to Muslim faithful, wishing them a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
