Troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have initiated a thorough manhunt for a notorious bandit leader known as Alhaji Muhammed Sule (also referred to as MP), who has been active in Rawaya village, located in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, revealed this information in a weekly briefing from the Military High Command on Saturday. He stated that the search for Sule, whom he characterized as a dangerous terror kingpin associated with a lethal Islamist terrorist group, was prompted by a recent raid on his home. During this operation, troops seized weapons including two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, six magazines, and 1,202 rounds of live ammunition.
The military spokesperson further noted that intelligence reports have connected Sule to numerous attacks in the region, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of innocent individuals and the theft of thousands of cattle.
“On 19 October 2025, during a coordinated raid operation, troops targeted the residence of the wanted extremist leader, Alhaji Muhammed Sule (aka MP), in Rawaya village, Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.
“No engagement occurred during the raid; however, the following weapons were confiscated from the suspect’s residence: two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, six magazines, and 1,202 rounds of live ammunition,” Gen. Kangye confirmed, adding that the recovered weapons are currently in the custody of the troops, while the search for the suspect continues.
In the update, Kangye also mentioned that troops from the Joint Task Force North-East Operation Hadin Kai apprehended several terrorists, along with their collaborators, informants, sympathizers, and spies across various communities in the state during the past week.
“Troops of Operation Enduring Peace executed offensive operations and responded to distress calls regarding terrorist activities in Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Jos North, Riyom, Jos East, and Mangu LGAs of Plateau State.
“Similar operations were carried out in Zangon Kataf, Jama’a, Kaura, and Tafawa Balewa LGAs in Kaduna and Bauchi States, respectively.
“During the firefights, several extremists were neutralized, 24 were apprehended, and three kidnapped victims were rescued. Additionally, weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and vehicles were recovered from them.”
